Peter Obi – It Is Unacceptable To Have Youths Without Means Of Livelihood

Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has revealed his major focus as making Nigeria a productive country if he becomes president come 2023.

Naija News understands that Obi is seeking to contest the country’s number political position under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State shortly after a consultative meeting with the party’s stakeholders, the former state Governor said it is unreasonable for a country to have millions of youths without a good livelihood.

Obi said his government will ensure Nigeria transits from a consuming to a producing nation to pull her citizens out of poverty in the shortest time.

The presidential aspirant reiterates that the country must live within its means by cutting down on the cost of governance and investing in human capital development.

Obi said pulling Nigerians out of poverty was a sine-qua-non, adding that with the abundant resources in the country, it is poor to record a massive number of youths without means of livelihood, Naija News reports.

He urged Nigerians to consider the current state of the nation as they decide on who to cast their ballots for in the 2023 general elections.

He said: “I am saying the same thing to Nigerians for the general elections. We must live within our means in this country. That is what we need to do urgently to take our people out of poverty.”

He added, “So we cannot allow our young people in their young age with the resources of this country to be living where they have no means of livelihood. That is what I want to do.

“That is why I said my basic function is to move the country from consumption to production. We have to change. No more sharing formula.

“I’m going to put the production formula in place. We must feed ourselves. We have enough land all over Nigeria for us to feed ourselves.”
