Peter Obi To Join NNPP, Contest 2023 Election With Kwankwaso
Former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential aspirant, Peter Obi is reportedly in discussions with leaders of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
It was gathered that Peter Obi is concluding plans to join the fast rising political party after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This is coming barely few hours after tendering his resignation letter to the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.
The former Anambra governor had quit the main opposition party after failing to get majority of the delegates to his side ahead of the PDP special convention to elect its presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
Peter Obi said: “It has been a great honour to contribute to nation-building efforts through our party. Unfortunately, recent developments within our party make it practically impossible to continue participating and making such constructive contributions.
“Our national challenges are deep-seated and require that we each make profound sacrifices towards reducing our country. My commitments to rescuing Nigeria remains firm, even if the route differs.”
Sources have now told PRNigeria that Peter Obi has been pencilled down to become the running mate of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, if his eventual defection into the party sails through.
It is however not clear at the time of filing this report who will be the presidential candidate and vice-presidential candidate between Obi and Kwankwaso if the ongoing meeting is fruitful.
