Popular Fuji Star, Easy Sawaba Is Dead

One of the greatest forces to reckon with in the Fuji genre of Nigeria’s music industry, Alhaji Isiaka Iyanda Sawaba popularly known as Easy Sawaba, is dead.

Naija News reports that the Fuji enthusiast was aged 71 when he died.

As at the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding his death is very stretchy.

Sawaba, like he is fondly called, is a veteran musician who had a major career in the Fuji music industry in the 1970s and 1980s.

Until death, he dropped more than twenty-two albums, including Suru, Igbo Odaju, Pata Olokun, Ayetoto and Oroseniwo among others from the stable of old Adetunji Records (Babalaje Records) owned by the present Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1.

Sawaba became more popular with his leading role among the then younger generation of Fuji musicians who supported the late Fuji icon, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister when the supremacy rivalry between the former and General Kollington Ayinla was red hot.

Sawaba was signed on the stable of the Keji Okunowo-led defunct Sony Music in 1992 where he released another successful album titled Message as produced by Laolu Akins.
His last know album released in 2018 is titled Correction.
