Tinubu: Uba Sani Speaks On ‘Cold War’ Between Shettima And El-Rufai Over VP Slot
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Sani Uba has debunked reports of any political fight between the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima and Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
He described the two APC chieftains as brothers, adding that those talking of a rift between them are simply ignorant.
Sani’s clarification follows the rumours of a cold war between El-Rufai and Shettima over the emergence of the former Borno State Governor as the running mate to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the 2023 presidency on the platform of the APC.
It was reported that El-Rufai was also interested in the VP slot and is therefore not totally happy with the emergence of Shettima.
However, Sani who spoke at an event in Kaduna on Friday, said such thoughts only existed in the imagination of those spreading the rumours.
He said both of them are friends and El-Rufai has total support for Shettima.
“I want to deliver a goodwill message from my brother, Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai of Kaduna state,” he said.
“I want to also say here that Governor El-Rufai has total support for our brother, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima; we have worked together, we are brothers and we are friends.”
He assured that Kaduna state will deliver the highest votes for the Tinubu/Shettima candidacy.
“I assure you, and stand to be quoted anywhere, anytime that Kaduna state would deliver the highest votes for the Tinubu presidency in 2023,” he said.
