What Fayose Told Ekiti Governor-elect, Oyebanji During Visit

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose asked the Governor-elect of the state, Biodun Oyebanji to be magnanimous in victory.

Oyebanji, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the winner of the Ekiti governorship election on June 19.

The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) advised the governor-elect to see himself as the governor for all citizens and leader of the people.

Naija News reports that Fayose stated this when he received Oyebanji at his residence in Lagos state on Wednesday.

He, however, promised to support Oyebanji’s administration in whatever area it will be needed, saying the development of Ekiti State is a collective effort.

This visit comes hours after Fayose called for power to be shifted to the South ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

This is despite the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, being from the north.

Fayose in an interview with Premium Times said his call for power to shift to the south is not about the presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress or the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Fayose noted that he would not mind if the party expelled him for calling for power to shift to the south in the forthcoming election.

He said, “What I am saying is, it is the turn of the South, and if they want to expel me, to hell with them. I am not taking money from anyone to belong to this party.

“If they want to rock this boat, we will help them to rock it.”
