Yari Confirms Exit From APC, Speaks On Joining PDP
Former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, has confirmed his membership exit from the nation’s ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Naija News reports that Yari and Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa on Sunday announced they are no longer card-carrying members of the APC.
Their exit from the ruling party was confirmed in a statement by Chairman Peoples Democratic Party in the State, Rt Colonel Bala Mande.
Mande had claimed while speaking briefly after a stakeholders’ meeting in Gusau, the state capital today, that they have sat down and finalized the issue of the defection of the duo.
Speaking, however, hours after, the Publicity Chairman of former Governor Abdulaziz Yari’s faction of the APC in Zamfara State, Hon. Ibrahim Birinin Magaji said the politician has truly dumped the ruling party but is yet to join PDP as speculated in reports flying on the internet.
He described the reports as misrepresentations of facts.
Magaji described the action of the State PDP chairman as putting the cart before the horse.
Magaji said: “We have actually made our decision to dump the APC, we went into negotiation with many political parties, including the PDP, but we have not reached conclusion with any political party yet.
“Even if we had concluded to join the PDP, we should have been the one to address the press on our latest decision and not the PDP to speak for us,” he said.
According to him, the State PDP chairman, Col. Mande did not consult them before organizing a press conference.
“We were surprised to hear such statement from the State chairman of a party when we have not concluded any arrangement, and there is no document to back his claim,” he added.
